using just for checking email and doing some office work. dont want to buy highend athlon and p4 that consume lot of power.
what is the cost of via processors and motherboards ?
i heard they are very cool and dont need huge fans.
performace is not a issue. but temperature, noise and power consumption are.

An ATHLON 2GHz will cost you 4000/- INR Approx and a good m/b should make you poorer by about 5000/-. If this ain't VFM(Value For Money) i ain't know what else can help. BTW VIA is the LOWEST range of x86 CPU's one could get. Frankly with AMD giving sutch high ROI and VFM why would any user look at other options unless you got them FREE.

3500/- with the CPU soldered onboard for the VIA EDEN range of boards. The others are a bit on the 5000/- fringe.

Hmm....More power more heat. The Athlon's may not don the "MR. cewl" attitude but beat the shit out of the competition.

If you go see in the real market instead of desktop research. You will find
Via C3 and motherboard combo's at 3000 or less. This is ex- nehru place (delhi) figure I am quoting
