How does that matter? At the rate the 'organised' world is destroying the earth's natural wealth (species etc) you think anyone (with enough money to do something) cares about losing the incomplete efforts of thousands of sincere people?
Don't forget that the Germans knew how to extract liquid fuel from coal 60 years ago - we wouldn't have such disastrous war and suffering if we had easily available fuel today. What's a better OS compared to that?
