I have added this entry myself.
COuld anyone suggest what the problem could be??

I believe the primary harddisk in your situation will be referred to as "hd0" (and not "hd1"), irrespective of your BIOS boot device settings. --- VKB

It should be root (hd0,1) or root (hd0,0) depending on the partition number.

Shouldn't primary master be (hd0,0)?
