PPTP is about as secure as a lock with attached key. Use a proper vpn like freeswan. Ofcourse on a dialup internet connection u can have better speed with a bicycle. BTW what exactly are u trying to achiev. Alternately u can have a ras with multiple input lines and have your branches dial in. Will give u speeds of 9600 bps. Ok for trivial work. The minimal setup u require is 64kbps isdn lines.
