Hi,
What would be an appropriate PHP topic of discussion for the 8th meet?
- Introduction to PHP - Smarty templates in PHP - Building a (quick & dirty) meeting planner for GLUG using PHP/MySQL - Anything else??
Look forward to get some inputs so that I can prepare for the talk ;)

This may be required depending on the crowd. Even if this is covered keep it to a max of 10 mins. PHP as a lanuage cannot be taught in a seminar.
- Smarty templates in PHP
This should attract a lot of attention. I would love if you can discuss this in depth. Ofcourse depends again on what the LUGGERS prefer.

this although possible, I dont think we can really do justice to application if we develop it this fast. if it is only for demonstration then it is great, but if we want a production application for our site we need to design it, unless you want to do the designing before the seminar starts!! :)

I would like to talk about the Red Hat Scholarships (5-10 minutes). Around 287 proposals for developing Open Source software programs from teams all over India were accepted and we plan to invite experts from industry, academia etc to sign up and mentor these students.

Venky

Feel free to include it in the meeting depending on an appropriate situation.
