I have tried to boot Linux kernel 2.4 on a 486DX2 with 4MB EDO RAM but could not. As soon as I upgraded to 8MB RAM I could boot the kernel, but it was pretty slow. I am not too sure that 2 or 4MB of RAM would suffice. But with 8MB RAM, YES it definitely works!!
---- Snip ---- Right on... 32MB RAM will make it scream. Try to have RAM above 16MB, the perfromance will get a real kick.
