I've tried GPRS with BPL Mobile and my Psion Revo PDA. Worked fine. Also tried setting up my Siemens ME45 as a modem in Linux. Wvdial detected it right away. Just follow the GPRS setup instructions from your provider. Then, use it like a normal modem, except the number dialled needs to be something special. In BPL's case, '*99#'.
hi tushar... you have given me a great relief . in my area no cable net service providers are ready to come ( few comps u see)
anyways so i m thinking of opting for GPRS ... if i use it ruthlessly say 7-8 hrs then will the cellphone battery get affected ? how long should i expect this battery to run? is it any harm if i keep charging on while i m using it ?
thanks again harsh

Same problem here. Considering GPRS myself.

It's unlikely that you will get 7 or 8 hours of continuous connectivity without the battery giving up, unless you have batteries based on alien technology.
You could charge while using GPRS if your phone has separate charging and data cables. My Siemens has a common slot, so I can't charge while using data.
