I've recently installed Ubuntu (Breezy Badger, 5.10) on my computer. The problem is that most times I boot into M$ XP, the CD ROM drive doesn't get mounted. I have to reboot the system, after which the CD ROM drive gets mounted. Is this problem caused due to the installation of Ubuntu (I'd encountered one error during the installation process, but I don't remember that error now) or is it caused due to some other malfunctioning in XP?

Check your cd rom's power connector and cable. Don't use the 'panvati' (thin 80 pin) cables for cd roms. Use cd rom cables only.
