And u can use smtp only thru a vsnl dialup or leasedline connection or thru dishnet. The goal is to prevent spammers using vsnl as a relay. That legit vsnl users get spammed to death (90% in my case) is incomprehensible to the zombies who sit on the heldesk. Or that u may want to access your mailbox from from other locations. Or why users have to endure ads and flash animations for a paid service.

SMTP AUTH should enable you to relay from anywhere, regardless of the network you are on.
Now they only need to block port 25 on their dynamic IP blocks for decent outbound spam control.
