I am thinking of going in for the new combo offer of MTNL which bundles broadband w/ local telephony.
From the discussions on the list (which I only skimmed over) what I need
to do is connect the adsl modem to my pc using ethernet and configure the card to use DHCP.
Any gotchas that I need to look out for ? They are providing a D-Link modem.
Thanks
Sharukh

Check Firmware Version : V2.00B01T01.ML.20050530. V1.0 does not interact well with Firefox.

Monitor your usage o/w you may get socked for a hefty sum as "additional usage" charges. "MTNL hai to sahi hai" means whatever they say is right.

How do I check that ? or will the newer modems really be the new version?

Yes, that's something I'll have to keep my eye on. Gkrellm gives good stats for net usage.
