Not sure what you want,If you want a platform independent GUI toolkit .. i suggest wxpython (www.wxpython.org) and if ur used to VB there is a RAD tool for wxpython called boa-contructor ( boa-constructor.sourceforge.net ).BTW both these pakages are already with most distributions.

If free (beer and speech) is not an issue with you, I suggest you try QT and say blackadder advantages: 1.works on linux and windows(among others)equally well, not CVS versions. 2. designer is a good ui builder 3. C++ toolkit, C++ is a very well know language 4. for scripting try blackadder, a phython gui from thekompany.com , it seems to be nice(at least from screenshots...but one can never tell
