How can I change the gtk 1.2 themes? I got gtk-engines-industrial with apt, but cant change the theme of my gtk 1.2 apps (xmms, Audacity, Vlc Player, etc.)

I tried to change the theme with gtk-theme-switch package and also by manually editing ~/.gtkrc file.

I cant see any change in the above mentioned apps.
