hello, I have a windows printer shared on one machine and I can see that shared printer on other windows machines and can also share the printer. what is the general way of accessing this shared printer over the network on gnome desktops. and is there any thing specific I can do in fedora core 6 to achieve this task? regards. First make sure your printer share name is '8' characters OR less and without any special characters.. for instance my "samsung ml-1610" didn't work, but sharing as "samsung" did. Also ensure netbios is enabled.
Now update FC6 using PUP or YUM for the latest printer drivers.. Next go to System ==> Administration ==> Printers and add a new printer, when prompted for choose 'windows share/samba' rather then local or cups..
Next browse for your printer and select the appropriate make/model and fire a test page. Thats it!!

Have you tried using gnome-cups-manager ?

what is the command for updating the printer drivers? is it some thing like yum update printerdriver? Krishnakant
