Don't you mean 20-30kbps ? if not which plan and what medication is your machine on :)

25 to 27 KBps (Kilo Bytes / sec) which translates to 26*8 kbps (kilo bits / sec).

Also since you have to switch on and off the modem, can it be automated to login at say 12:15 and log out before 8 for the NUbies ? Gishu

Can be done with some telnet scripts which will make the modem reboot. But u cant switch it off without putting in some hardware btwn the modem psu and the modem. Will be doing it in the next few days (particularly after reading the billing nightmares). Will keep all posted. Today the register.mtnl.net.in site is down.
