Hi all,
Finally, although a bit late, the groupware is up and running. Check it out at http://www.thefreespeech.org/collaborate/groupware. Since phpGroupware was way too large to fit (and without ssh access, it becomes all the more difficult), I've used PHProjekt (www.phprojekt.org), which according to me, is functionally competent, while taking up very little space in comparison.
Initially, you may use the login/password of test/test (just to get a hang of it). Then we could either write a program that automatically creates logins, or let someone administer the whole process.
Also, I've created two mailing lists, announce@thefreespeech.org and linuxers@thefreespeech.org. I guess we are now all set to implement the PRC.
Get going guys

Prima facie, looks great! excellent job done, himanshu and trevor....now all we need are the projects....and people to do them....guys, lets start rocking!!
Then we could either write a program that automatically creates logins, or
let someone administer the whole process. I think we let someone administer the process till the procedures get sorted out automatically with time..if we need to automate this process later on, it can always be done.

Sorry for using a bunch of different IDs each time, but I am not in office currently, and realized a bit late in the day that linuxfreemail.com, does not offer SMTP :(

I second. I guess Trevor is out of town. Any immediate ideas of going abt it? Should I create a few more logins so that more people start using it simultaneously, or should everyone just test it out using the "test" login for a couple of more days? Suggestions anyone?

Lets create about 5 IDs so that people get the feel of the colloborative features for testing.
We should have some kind of registration process by which a person registers himself as a mentor, students etc. Also how do we post new projects to the site so that people can join as mentors/ students/ QC guys etc. I guess on registering. the person should get an ID and password to access the groupware.

On one hand the government gives away awards and on the other hand fails to lend the kinda help and assiatance that is desired. Players from developed nations are taking a keen interest in the Simputer but our government does not seem to bother and is sleeping!! What about the Simputer project's request of waiving taxes, excise duty etc. on the Simputer so that the overall cost to the end user can be below $200?
This award, at best, seems to be a big eye wash, like most government initiatives are.

[snip] I agree with u on this 1 Dear Ashok. But among this Beaucratic mess......is there ny1 who can stand out and make a difference.....???
Never the less....letz not get disheartened in this country where most pple takes thingz for granted. Lets do our best in our own spheres to make sure that Freedom of Thought/Speech/Access to information prevail.....in our own small wayz.
GNU has taught us a lot....now lets do our bit to educate the rest.

Lets keep our fingers crossed and do our own small bit. thingz hav a way of workin their way out.
