Just installed Linspire on a partition. I am unable to stay connected using MTNL's Triband for long though i have no such problems when using an old GNOME live CD. I am therefore forced to switch back to Windows XP to get online.

be more verbose with your problem. expand on the part of "unable to stay connected...". What error do you get, if any? AFAIK, Linux has nothing to do in keeping you connected lest you use the bridged mode and use raspppoe to dial.
