I recently tried out Mandrake 8.2 distro on my Machine, the one that came with this months Digit. I soon realised that my days with wvdial were over.
After making failed attempts to connect to my ISP.. I gave up. Can anyone give me pointers?

Try the PPP scripts that come with almost every Linux distro. Find the files on your system:
ppp-on ppp-on-dialer ppp-off ip-up ip-down
Let's you configure a lot of things.
Read the PPP-Howto for more details. but experience says that the sample scripts are better than what is mentioned in the PPP-Howto.

[snip] infact buddy...... touchwood......but wvdial seemz to b the best util out there for all the dial-out solns using POTS that i hav rolled out. Nd it just seemz to go ...on ...nd on.....
bash# man wvdial.conf check ur config.....nd let us know, probably debuggin it would give u a way out.
