I used to have the same problems once before and i think ( correct me if i am wrong) pppoe doesn't allow one to choose an AC. It just picks the first AC shown when you do pppoe-discovery.

Which distro are you using? In Fedora I run system-config-network and create a new xDSL connection. Then I select the connection just created and Edit it. Under the Advanced tab there is a field to enter the Service-name and AC-name. I guess it must be editing some configuration files. Don't know which ones.
