paste the output of lspci -vv and also make sure that the mac address in the ifcfg-eth file is the same as that of the card. Also check if there are any strange messages in the output of dmesg

as root , try : modprobe 8139too, lsmod (does it show a module called "8139too"?) and as clifford mentioned check dmesg. can you give more details ..btw, did you delete anything ?
