What is mozilla/5.0 compactible in most of the browses? I dont think there is any version of mozilla > 1.3? Does the 5.0 represent IE?

long before the mozilla project existed, mozilla used to be the code name for the netscape browser. therefore, mozilla/1.0 in the useragent string is really netscape 1.0. mozilla/2.0 compatible is any browser that is compatible with the mozilla base - primarily IE.
The Mozilla browser will have Gecko in its UserAgent string.
