Could any1 pls. tell me HO= WTO enable SOCKS 5 in linux. I need it enabled in SQUID. Is that possible ?= HOW ????

As i understand socks is a protocol native to MS. Probably you should be looking for socks support in squid and not at the OS layer.

Socks version 5 is documented in RFC 1928 and refers to [1] Koblas, D., "SOCKS", Proceedings: 1992 Usenix Security Symposium.
Thats what a quick google search has offered. I couldn't locate anything earlier than that.
