Hello everyone,
Let me introduce myself as the founder of http://linux.mejokj.com. I have been using and promoting linux for years . I recently came to Mumbai and one of the first things I did here was to join the linux users group , Mumbai. But when I searched on net, I found to linux users groups - 1) Mumbai_GNULinux@yahoogroups.com , 2) linuxers@mm.ilug-bom.org.in. Is there any different between the above two groups? I subscribed to both the mailing lists and has been reading all the mails send by other members.
The Mumbai Gnu Linux group has got around 200 members(yahoo says so) but I am not sure how many of them are really active. I am unaware of the number of members in ILUG mumbai. Anyway their site http://www.ilug-bom.org.in/ is completely unmaintained and not updated frequently. The bottom line here is that - the linux users of mumbai are not organised(Correct me if I am wrong). I couldn't understand what's the need for two different groups for members having the same interest. Can't both the groups merge and become one big, strong, active group? UNITY IS STRENGTH. ALWAYS!
I would request all the members of both the groups to express their opinion about this. I am sure that we can do a lot more things together then we are doing right now, and in a much better way.
What I have written in this mail is my personal opinion. If what I have written here is completely wrong or if there's something that I shouldn't have written, I apologize!
Thanks & Regards,
Mejo Jose http://linux.mejokj.com The place for Linux cds!

IIRC, Mumbai_GNULinux is a group formed in the northern suburbs of Mumbai. Since Mumbai is a very large city, we do have smaller groups around the place. Ilug-bom has been around for over 5 years, and has been very active through all this time. There are currently about 530 members, though not all are active.
The website isn't maintained because there doesn't seem to be any need to.

;-) I didn't even know there were two. Now I do, so I guess I'll join that group too and see what gets talked about there.
BTW... Does Chembur count as nothern suburbs?
Is there another one for new bombay? ;-)

That job is up for the grabs. Just call Dr. Nagarjuna at HBCSE.
