We indeed will be glad to meet you all at Dharwad. But planning out for your event at Dharwad will take some time and i suggest you get started on the same. When we meet at iitb-hubli, we can sit and discuss these issues face-to-face.
As for the Event and your existing use of Free Software and Open source, yes......that indeed makes me glad and proud. You indeed have made your self and the college proud by insisting on going in for Open Source and Free Software.
I would suggest you read up on the following sites that will give you enough information on Free Software and Open source.

I had to convince our another sir prof.Ravindra Dastikop over the bugs that sir enlisted in OpenOffice suite and finally he has agreed that this is certainly far better than the previous such Open Source softwares.( this shows it's reliability )
So sir, our college certainly has the tradition of using Open Source Softwares for quite a long time and we are eager to know more about it.

the dates and the schedules. Your idea of distributing the knoppix cd's is absolutely fundu. Infact considering that 250 students from

over the state would be there i deem it necessary to hold a 1
hour
talk on gnu-linux and careers in gnu-linux and FSF-Open Source.
This could provide a platform for the students
to
learn about possible career oppurtunities and challenges which would definitely influence any future decisions they make. Lemme know what you think about the same. I can arrange for Fredrick Noronha from goa to
help
out on the same and get a contingent for GOA-Belgaum to help out
with
the noble cause.
Also, do you have Knoppix 3.2 with you??. Lemme know about the same and if you have the capability to burn 100-150 cds
for
the same. Blank media of a reputed manufacturer should cost you about 7-8/- and you can retail the same for about 20/- which is the norm we
follow.
To implement the decision is left yo your discretion.

the Linux live CD-knoppix.3.2 at a nominal
price(which
covers expenditure of the services).
I think that this is a good platform to
popularise
Linux and it's usage.
