The talk covers the design and development of Thunder Super Computer and its associated Free Software stack.

Thunder, designed by California Digital, can perform 23 trillion floating point operations per second (peak) yielding the best price/performance ratio at 86.7% efficiency. (highest efficiency rating recorded at this scale). It is rated as the world's second fastest super-computer.

The speaker is an active Free Software developer, and a full-time GNU volunteer. He is an author/maintainer for various Free Software projects like FreeIPMI System, HDB/RPCI, Hymn, Freehoo and bios-config. He leads the Free Software Division of California Digital as Chief Software Architect and VP.
