Now most browsers support unicode so you can put the unicode characters for your name. You can do it in your Gmail Mail Settings options.

No you dont have to...... Go to http://www-atm.physics.ox.ac.uk/user/iwi/charmap.html
From List select devnagri and create your name in marathi , then you
can copy paste it in display name in gmail settings!

Ubuntu has a character map application called guchart. Probably, you can get it on your distribution too. Search for it. This app gies you an interface to click and copy the text yo want. Its quite simple and effective. Check my name in this email! ;-) -- Regards, Sanket Medhi.
