Hi, I know this really isint linux related, but couldnt think of a better place to ask. I have a netgrear wireless router which I want to configure to access sify. These are the steps I have taken: 1) Useing static ip address on router configuration page. 2) I have set the mac address on the router to correspond with the one they have bound to my account. Now the problem is that I still need to use the sify client to send my username and password. The client also automatically sends my MAC address. So depending on the connection I use( wireless or wired) a different MAC address is sent. Also currently its impossible for two computers to use the internet at the same time.
What I need to figure out is a way for the Netgear router to send all this information to sify. Any suggestions will be helpful. -gautam

Evening Dear,
Am quite confused. Why is it that not more than one m/c can connect to the internet???. Is it that the wireless router allows not more than one connection simultaenously????. As for requiring for automatic authentication with the gateway you will need the router to support the Sify Authentication process.
Since its not a standards based authentication process it would be difficult to get the netgear to authenticate unless you can hack to box get your own firmware in and get the auth done.

Hi, Can someone post their entire local.cf file for Spamassasin? Inspite of training my spam filter I still get tons of spam. I wanted to have a look at different configurations to see where I might be going wrong. THanks. -gautam http://securitynotes.blogspot.com

Here is what you should do. Get an old box. Put in two NICs. Install linux. Connect sify's cable to that comp at one NIC. Connect the router to the second NIC. Now that comp will authenticate you to sify's gateway. It will also act as a firewall/dns or whatever you want. Thats the only "easy" way out. If you want to take the hard way out, do what Trevor said.
It is IMPORTANT to note that having a wireless network on your side of the firewall is a big security risk. Use WPA instead of WEP since WEP has been cracked a long time ago...
