Hi Luggers !
Since last couple of days i'm getting the following error when I try to start the X .. I get the following error
Not enough free disk space on /tmp
And then the X does not start .. I tried putting runlevel 5 in .initrc file. After which I got the initial login window but then I was not able to login to the system .. However I cud switch back to the command prompt .. The same (and only) error message is written in .xsessions-errors file in my home directory .. Please help me. Thanks in advance

Looks like you've run out of disk space. Assuming you've got /tmp under /, do a df / and du /tmp, check the output and if the partition is full, free up spme space.

The *du -sk* command gave me 109 as output and I don't have a partition for /tmp .. I still have around 0.5 gb empty space on the root partition .. I even emptied the /tmp and still no improvement .. I think the problem lies somewhere else .. Thansk for replying Warm Regards, $ sonpal -kj

So, have you checked if you have any space on /tmp? Some processes may have been zombified in the past and taken up space on /tmp. You can delete any files that they may have created.

Yes and I deleted around 109 kb of files which were present in the /tmp folder .. No improvement
Thanks a lot,
