I am looking to setup software RAID-1 on my home computer and need an extra IDE interface. Any ideas on tried-and-tested PCI-IDE adapters/chipsets for GNU/Linux which are locally available(read Lamington Road).
I am also considering the alternative of buying a SATA hdd, in which case I would need to know of Linux compatible PCI-SATA controllers/chipsets. Once again the operative conditions would be locally available and somewhat cheap(<= 1k).
Thanks, farazs

You can get the USB to IDE converter for 400 bucks.
