Hi All,
Well now we have 2 Iirc Servers & 2 Channels. the details for both of them are as follows :
Server : irc.ilug-bom.org.in Channel : #linuxers
Server : irc.openprojects.net Channel : #ilug-bom
the following steps are compulsory for using either of the irc servers :
1) the moment u connect please register ur nickname : /msg nickserv register <nickname> <password>
change <nickname> to ur desired one and change <password> to whatever u want.
once the nickname is registerd. evrytime u logonto the server u need to identify to the server that that u r the owner fo that nick by :
/msg nickserv identify <password>
regards,
parag mehta
Sometime on Aug 2, Parag Mehta assembled some asciibets to say:
- the moment u connect please register ur nickname :
/msg nickserv register <nickname> <password>
A correction. You cannot specify nickname here. You have to specify nickname at startup, or using /nick. Then, use register with your password
% irc <nickname> <server>
/msg nickserv register <password>
for the openprojects server, use nickserv@services.us instead.
Philip
In addition to my earlier mail, you could use:
% irc /nick <nickname> /msg nickserv register <password>

Hello,
I have a problem to connect with a modem from my Linux machine to a Linux server (modem is working, as other people can connect). My modem is an external one, GVC, 33Kbps. The problem seems to be that my modem does not understand when it gets connected to the remote modem. First of all, to dial I have to use ATX1DT instead of ATDT, I do not know why. After the modems are connected, the "typical noise" comes and it never stops. I never get the login prompt. Below is the relevant part of the log file in the server (modem answers after 4 rings, thus the RING string).
Any ideas about what command/string I should send so the OK/CONNECT talk is understood?
