Dear all,
I have installed Lycoris desktop Lx update 2 with windows xp profesional. My problem is that whenever I choose lycoris for booting , it shows "error 28 message". the message says " the selected item could not fit into memory".
I am naive to linux terminology. I would be grateful if someone could please help me out.I need linux OS because some of the molecular modeling softwares runs only on the linux.

It is the bug in the version of Grub used by Lycoris/Suse 8.0, atleast this happen with the nForce chipset based AMD systems,
The only option left is to boot from LILO install updated grub by compiling source or RPM or what ever you prefer.

What are these modelling softwares? You may be better off running knoppix. However you will have to check if your apps are available for debian distros. If they are you will have no problems. If not you will have to install rpms or compile packages. Both a bit confusing for newbies. If you are ready to spend the time I will walk you thru the steps to get u up and running. MOST IMPORTANT: since you are not in Mumbai a good internet connection is essential if you intend to use debain or knoppix. Both these distros have a package managment system that relies on good connectivity for maintainence.
