my prob is that in haste i forgot to configure the vga card, i have asus v3005 32mb, this was not shown in the list. i learnt from a friend that i could've used sis 300 (is it in the list shown by redhat??).
I don't have an answer to your original problem, but my advice is to firt upgrade to RHL 7.3 before trying to figure out your card ... 7.3 is likely to have better support for your card.

If u are confident enough or want to experiment, try out the generic server or some other Xserver for asus chip and try it our if it works. However you need to have your card manual/user guide by your side as you may need the details.try it out. But be sure of what you are doing or you may thrash your system. However that may teach you a thing or two new about your system. The command for the same is Xconfigurator.
to get a graphical login set the initdefault line in /etc/inittab to 5
happy experimenting. -->vinayak hegde

Hi, Thankx Xconfigurator worked gr8 and my friend ewas right sis300 was there and it worked!! BTw i was right (by accident) to have configured the card after installation of linux as (i tried on another machine with same config) that the machine hangs while probing for the card. I tried Xconfigurator as told by you on my machine and it worked, though there is a slight resolution problem, but i shall experiment and get that right to in the linux spirit!! nilesh
Hey , I hope i got the subject right this time!!!
