Amasing !!! I too registered but didn't go to the event. Looks like a good thing I didn't waste time.
I do not understand, however what was the basis on which they didn't allow you in. I thought registering on web and getting the confirmation was the way to do it.

This has been the most horrible experience i have had in the recent times, Redhat had invited people from the Industry for their just concluded Event on Open Source, and after receiving a mail confirmation on the same, and reaching the venue on time, we where not allowed inside, on the pretext that we had only Registered on the website (Why on the first place did they Invite all to Register on the Website is not known and hard to understand), Just b'cause the Event was held at a Prestigious Hotel with a Cocktail dinner??? the guys where not attended to and allowed to participate?? well Redhat has to come up with some Answers for the same. Numerous people who may have canceled their appointments and work just to attended this Event where to their horror left out of the Event without any Courtesy, Hope Javed Tapia, Sachin Dabir, Animesh Singh, Rama Singh, Our own Venky, and miss Aditi's listening, are we seeing an Emerging Alternative to Microsoft and the Likes, or does Redhat want to portray that they are the Only Ones providing Open Source Solutions, If they feel thay have a Monopoly on GNU Based Distributions thay are for a shock. I have my grievances not b'cause i missed out on a cocktail party, but the way people where treated from our own community at Such Events. The hard work of numerous GNU Community Soldiers is being capitalized buy such a disorganized company as Redhat, and they want to term them selfs as Leaders who are taking the Industry towards Open source.

Best thingy,
To stay happy, Stay away from all such crappy PR events meant to fatten their images. Calling their VP's and CEO's to give long pep talks meant to create mind share with customer such that they allow for bigger holes to be blown in their own pockets.
After all these suckers just want to fatten their pockets. And we all know their attitude well enough. Nothing to write home about. Box pushers.....or Software license sellers....call em whatever you may, it just takes one such incident to dent their image.
I pray that the ideals of FSF-OS rule above all. And as JTD suggests time and again history has proven that sanity rules inspite of the crusades men have launched against their own brethren.
