You OS appears too old to detect this modem. The new distros can detect it and using 'wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf' you can configure it.

check if you have cdc-acm driver. Afaik 2.6.17 and higher have it. uname -a should tell u the kernel.
I'm on Ubuntu 7.04 and am not being able to configure the Reliance ZTE MG880 modem. Log messages show that the kernel is not being able to recognize the device. What should I do -- any pointers?
Nandz.
Finally got it working. Here's how: http://nandz.blogspot.com/2007/11/how-to-get-reliance-zte-mg880-working.html
