Every now and then the MTNL DSL service goes south - cannot browse the web, DNS look up fails etc. - basically no IP traffic goes out of the DSL router.
To recover, I have to power cycle the DLink modem 502T.
I understand that some of you with the service, may be experiencing the similar problems. What kind of symptoms do you experience? What action on your part recovers the link?

We had a very similar issue with Hughes Telecom Zyxel modem. It is still unresolved. The cable is now plugged directly to the hub rather than the linux server. Do let me know if you manage to find a solution.

one of my customer do facing same problem most of the times it works with rebooting the router (switcing off and then on) and some times reseting via web administration i.e. http://192.168.1.1 ...let me know if u find any permanant solution for this.

I too has to re-power the modem at a client's place, to make it detectable in the usb port.
