There is nothing called Ubuntu 9. It must be 9.04..

As of now, the deb packages or a zip file is not available. You will have to use subversion to download the code. svn co http://gnukhata.gnulinux.in/svn/gnukhata_alpha
After that is done, open the INSTALL file and download the required dependencies. The installation procedure for gnukhata is also mentioned in the same file.

yes *as of now* right now we are ready with the debs and testing. So far things look pritty good except some system lever directories need to have a few files in place. Will finish that today night and upload to an ftp server so you will have deb packages and for those interested technically, We have used distutils so even a tar.gz can be grabbed and then untar and in the directory, sudo python setup.py install
but deb packages are the recommended method and by tomorrow they should be available or by 15th at the most.
