Abstract: ZOPE (Zee Object Publishing Environment) is a feature-rich web application server written in Python (a powerful object oriented programming language). It is object oriented, with built-in support for XML, password authentication, search, security and user management, and supports protocols like http, ftp, WebDav & XML-RPC. It can use data from various sources including file systems, ZODB, RDBMS and LDAP.
The lecture will be an introduction, and will cover installation and a demonstration of most of the features of ZOPE and a few of the ZOPE products used for the creation and maintenance of dynamic web sites. During the talk the suitability of ZOPE for developing e-education applications will be discussed.
About the Speaker: Nagarjuna works as a Science Educationist at HBCSE, TIFR. His interests are in History and Philosophical Science, Knowledge Engineering, Science Education, and fostering Open Source Technologies.
