Remind me again, what are we arguing about?
Some one called Philip 'raving mad' which was *out of line* to his valid post of not presenting your online acc info to a random website on a platter.
I stick to my comment, since I found Philip's reply sarcastic, illogical and uncalled-for. He has not yet been able to justify his position as to how the meebo guys are untrustworthy while Yahoo! and Hotmail are. Sure big brandname counts, but how much does it count is the issue? Its about to what degree you trust whom, and entirely a personal issue.
Thank you, Debarshi
Sometime Today, DRR cobbled together some glyphs to say:

Ok, here's my justification. I spoke only of identity theft, you assumed I was speaking of data security.
You send your Yahoo! password to Yahoo! - nothing wrong here You send your MSN password to MSN - nothing wrong here either You send your Yahoo! and MSN passwords to XXX - something wrong here
Now go back and read that again and please try to understand it.
Forgive me, but I'm one of the people who have to deal with users who get their accounts stolen. I have to deal with that a lot. I hate having to tell people that they've lost their Yahoo! IDs forever. I'd much rather stop them from doing something stupid in the first place.
Yes, it's an issue of trust, and there is no reason to trust anyone. I do not trust anyone. To yahoo, I only send data that they already possess. To MSN, I only send data that they already possess. To a man in the middle, I'd rather not send anything.
Philip

Hello Deb. I think your comment on Philip was out of line. Philip is a man of few words and his comments will always be focussed to the necessary part of the topic. Sometimes you may feel pricked by the short and not so sweet expert comments from the experts but they have a deep meaning in them that comes from a lot of hands on experience.
When you subscribe to Yahoo or Hotmail, you create an account with them and you knowingly use their computers. But if someone else offers you to use its computers, they should have no business to know your account details on the Yahoo/Hotmail computers. It is like using a banking application created by a third party, to access your bank account.
Your doctor and the video library guy know all your secrets but they should not be disclosed to third parties.
Regards,
Rony.
