I am considering buying APC BR800-IN (880VA/550W) for my Linux WS. It has an USB port for monitoring purpose.
Is anyone using this model successfully with Linux (apcupsd or nut)?
Any other brand/model (same capac. range) that is Linux friendly (compatible with apcupsd/nut)?
TIA for your input.

Hey arun,
I am using APC Back-UPS ES500. No probs till now. Works perfectly well with my Fedora Core 2 and apcupsd. I get it to shutdown after a while when there is a power outage. Works pretty well. Happy customer here :)

There are three interfaces - 1 RJ45, 2 RJ11. They are on the right hand side of the UPS. Its the end opposite to where the power cable goes inside the UPS.

Which of the above ports is connected to your computer? I looked at the specs on APC/India website and it does not mention any port thru which a computer can monitor for power outage.
TIA,

Dinesh , As Arun points out , there is not interface what so ever on the APC Back-UPS ES 500 . Could you please confirm that you are using the above mentioned model . Francis Pereira Are you still blinded by Windows , Open your eyes to Linux !!

RJ45 in the UPS and USB in my comp ;) How long will it take for you to understand that Indian websites SUCK. But it seems that my model is similar to this:
http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=21
But it is NOT the same. I repeat, it is NOT the same. I had bought the UPS a year and a half ago and APC prolly has changed their models. My model clearly mentions Back UPS ES-500.
http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=BE650Y%2DIN
The techspecs mention this:
Communications & Management Interface Port(s) DB-9 RS-232,USB
Actually, my model is similar to their international version: http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=BE500U
May be APC launched a cut down version of that model before they realized that it would turn out too expensive for them to put in the software to monitor the UPS.
Francis, you have the model Back UPS ES-500Y IN (Indianized version) and not Back UPS ES-500 which I have. That may be the problem...
