Hi All, I need a copy of every outgoing message to be sent to a particular id (outmail@foo). I am using sendmail on RH 7.1. How can the same be achieved. Kindly advise. SP

use procmail. configure it to cc all outgoing messages to the particular address. read the man pages, especially procmailex for more info. specifically, look at the cc parts of that man page.
Dear Philip, I tried the following solution, but does not seem to work. ================ :0 c * !^X-Loop: aaaa@foo.com | formail -A "X-Loop: bbb@foo.com" | \ $SENDMAIL -oi outmail@foo.com ============================ I wonder if PROCMAILEX plays any role for OUTGOING MAILS. I guess the mails are direcly going from O/Exp. or whatever to the MTA(Sendmail), bypassing MDA(Procmail). Am I missing something. --SP

You'll have to tell sendmail to pipe outgoing mails to procmail as well. I'll have to mess around a bit to get the exact changes, but if you basically, you have to make changes to the smtp mailer.
see the cf/README file in your sendmail-cf documentation directory.
Yes this seems possible. I tried to search the net all over for this setting, but no success. Nothing much in sendmail-cf docs either. Would really appreciate if you could help. --(Some digging in your grey matter ;) SP

maybe if you looked at http://www.sendmail.org/. Last time I checked that was also part of the net. I do not have available a ready made solution for you, and it isn't worth it for me to explore this any further at this time. I've given you all the information you need to construct your answer, so I'd expect you to do a little experimentation now and come up with one.

I'm using Qmail and under the same logic philip explained u, I've following points to mention .... You can use qmail and following setting ...
Taken from Qmail - FAQ (reffer urls down)
http://www.qmail.org/man/misc/FAQ.txt
8.2. How do I keep a copy of all incoming and outgoing mail messages?
Answer: Set QUEUE_EXTRA to "Tlog\0" and QUEUE_EXTRALEN to 5 in extra.h. Recompile qmail. Put ./msg-log into ~alias/.qmail-log.
You can also use QUEUE_EXTRA to, e.g., record the Message-ID of every message: run
| awk '/^$/ { exit } /^[mM][eE][sS][sS][aA][gG][eE]-/ { print }'
from ~alias/.qmail-log.
URLS :
http://cr.yp.to/qmail/faq/admin.html#copies You can set up a ~alias/.qmail-log file that decides about keeping a copy of a mail or not depending on anything you want. qmail provides lots of environment variables that may help you:
http://www.lifewithqmail.org/lwq.html#environment-variables
Now explore on your own ... This much information is sufficient for u as a pointer.
