I'm new to Linux OS. I'm installing Debian GNU/Linux on Pentium Machine. I'm not able to login as root in X window mode. How to close X window and start console mode? my mouse is not working properly in linux. I've Cannon BJC 2000sp Printer will it work in Debian GNU/Linux. Which driver it required and where I'll get that?
Pls. help me for my all this problems

use [ctl] [alt] [f1 thru f6] simultaneously to get to console mode.

During bootup when your system is about to start X, press CTRL+ALT+F1 and you should be in text mode. Change your inittab, /etc/inittab, to boot in runlevel without X, or edit your XF86Config file, in Debian it should be /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 to correct your mouse settings.

Install CUPs on your system and then connect to cups port from browser, if X is not working use lynx from local machine and configure your printer or connect from other machine. You will get a list of supported printers, choose from them.
