Hi
I finally installed Debian Sarge(DVD) build date 26/4/05. After the initial configs and reading the CD I was presented with GDM login screen to my surprise the screen appeared very grainy just like what appears when one logins in safe mode in windoze.
Why is this happening? Is any package missing to be installed
Thanks Ninad

I think your screen resolution isn't set correctly. Open up xorg.conf (dunno if sarge uses xorg or xfree86 so the file may differ). Set up the screen resolution to atleast 800x600 and depth to atleast 16bit. You can find the settings in the "Screen" section of the configuration file. Make sure that you take a backup of the file before messing with it.

U can edit the /etc/XF86config-4 and customize ur resolution... also try giving default depth as 24bits and resolution as 1024x768.. this will be cool.. N joy using Debian sarge ;-)
