Hi all,
I'm a second year engineering student. As part of our curriculum at DA-IICT ( http://www.daiict.ac.in ) we are required to do a rural internship ( ie. work with an NGO and contribute to society in some way ). Now I really want to do this well, so I figured if I could find a place where I could work with technologies I'm passionate about, that would be the best. So I'm really hoping to find some organisation which uses FOSS extensively in its day to day activities and could use another hand. The details are:
Time frame: 2-3 weeks in December 2009 Place: willing to go almost anywhere, but I live in mumbai Areas I can work on: * Web development * Software development * Computer/Network setup * System administration * Teaching FOSS
My resume can be found at http://22bits.exofire.net/resume.html
PS. I would also appreciate pointers to organisations which could use any kind of IT help, not necessarily in FOSS.
Thanks a lot, Nikhil

@Mehul and Varun Thanks for the link but the cometmedia site doesn't load... Is it an NGO btw or simply an organisation which helps other NGOs. Because if I go and sit in a normal office and work, that doesn't really count as an internship in this case. I have to be on site, eg. go and set up internet connectivity in a village or teach underprivileged students in school something.
@Kenneth I don't get it, "try IT for a change"?
Cheers, Nikhil

HI, I am Krishnakant Mane from Comet Media foundation. you can mail me off list for contact details. You are most welcome to work with us. If we can meet somewhere around this week, may be we will decide quickly about the kind of work you would like to do.
We do a lot of diverce work and while comet has many other things on their agenda, FOSS is my priority. We see FOSS as a very powerful medium for enabling the under privileged people and believe in inclusive policies.
Happy hacking./ Krishnakant.

@Kenneth, thanks for the suggestion, but there work is more political and literary than coding, so I think I'll skip that.
