all true - http://avsap.sourceforge.net <--- pretty old now, but in about 6-7 languages. frankly i got frustrated as a lot of people were very enthusiastic about helping/contributing until it actualy came to the point of doing work ... I have rewritten the underlying accounting engine, a demo of which can be seen at http://avsap.org.in (note, this demo is in plone, but no way is avsap ever going to be in plone)

guilty as charged. Couldnt get it installed, so interest waned. But the requirement is still there.

ok - fair enough, question is: does the next avatar need to be gui or web? The underlying engine can support either or both. And incidently, the reason why progress is stalled is that i lack accounting domain knowledge to proceed - some one said, give me a lever and i will overturn the world. I say, give me an accountant and i will produce a kick-ass FA package.

If you need to hire one then I am willing to contribute.

an accountant who can be hired is unlikely to be able to have the depth of domain knoowledge to guide a killer FA app. We have a killer team in Abhishek+Saswata - they have the knowledge, the interest - only problem is how to get the horse to drink the water ;-)

Last time the horse went to drink the water but could not figure out how to drink. I still cant understand how to work with the cvs stuff in windows. Now with the team working from Mumbai it would be a different matter. At least I hope so.

Sometime Today, KG cobbled together some glyphs to say:

build web apis to do individual tasks, and build a web app that runs over it. open the apis so third parties can build their own desktop/mobile/command line apps that use it.
why progress is stalled is that i lack accounting domain knowledge to proceed
- some one said, give me a lever and i will overturn the world. I say, give
Archimedes.

Same here. Got all the deps and everything working until i had to switch mobos and disk for a new project and completely forgot about it. Right now in the thick of a banking project with usual bandits screaming about the greatness of M$. But i am steadly gaining ground. But i am going to start again. Solemn promise KG. There is a hughe opportunity for everyone here. And KG do flame me if i am not doing my bit (honest - if u want me to work).
