The Tally dealer insists that 6.3 version of Tally will work on Linux as server AND client and once purchased, i can upgrade for free to 7.2
My question is, if it were already working on linux as server and client, why would Tally partner with Redhat and why would they make a big deal about it.
Can anyone let me know if it really works without getting any special linux only version, before I actually invest in it?
thanks abhishek

This whole Tally on *RHEL* is plain marketing gimmick. I went to Tally mela. All dealers were ignoring Tally on Linux like a plague. Nobody was willing to talk about Tally on Linux. They want us to purchase Tally on Windows.

Komal, it's probably because the dealers aren't conversant with GNU/Linux and thus cant offer support. It's wrong on Tally Solutions to just introduce a product without ensuring the ecosystem around it thrives.
Untill "Tally Solutions" realizes this... It's better to stick with popular GNU accounting packages.

Tally 7.2 is far cheaper than tally 6.3. And tally 6.3 for windows does not work on linux natively. They must have come up with a tally 6.3 for linux separately
