I have potato, I want to upgrade to 2.4, can I do this with apt-get? After trying the upgrade option, it did a lot of upgrading, but I still have a 2.2 kernel, and X3.3.6

Debian's site has a well structure for searching the packages. Its at
You have to change /etc/apt/sources.list. ( you can use apt-setup for that ) add these lines to /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian/ woody main non-free contrib deb http://non-us.debian.org/debian-non-US woody main contrib non-free
and run `apt-get update' and then `apt-get install <package-name>' packages are given at the above mentioned site ( including kernel ). You will find the latest kernel in the testing section.

I've given up on trying to upgrade my system to the 2.4.5 kernel.leaves the system with too many inconsistencies.... I'm now aiming at building a new system based on LFS.Anyone tried it before?
