anyone here with debian package building skills be interested in developing a package for kertex (whole)? this "can be" paid work and i would need a quotation on the amount for not just building the package but also it's long term (10 years) maintenance.
also, the package should be high quality enough to be accepted into the default debian repositories.
do write back either off-list or on it.

When doing this: https://wiki.debian.org/Derivatives/Guidelines is nice documentation for long term plan if you want to integrate packages into Debian.

i did not mention anything about building a derivative of debian. i requested a package under debian with an added request to have it brought into the default debian repository.

In that case, first step will be RFP (Request for Packaging)[1] (if you want someone to work on it) or ITP (Intent to package)[2] request as a bug (so, duplicate efforts can be avoided).
`reportbug` tool can be used to quickly file such requests. Once requested, ITP, you can probably start work on Debian's Git repository (salsa.debian.org) after getting access to it and ask for review. Some Debian Developer or Maintainer can review the work and will be happily upload the package if everything is OK.

i don't have the time and inclination to do this myself, hence my first request to the list.
if you can do this, in paid capacity, you're welcome to give it a shot, else please read the original mail carefully before shooting off tangential replies.

In that case, please add [Commercial] in subject, so people can filter it out.

it is not for commercial use, it's for personal use and will be part of the debian repositories of everything works out fine.
does that still warrant a [commercial] tag?

Appreciate your gesture to create and fund paid gigs for working on free software. Also appreciate Kartik's insights into proper way of creating debian packages so its sustainable in the long run.
