iam using PCQ 2004(fedora core 2) in my two machines one is an athlon xp with 256MB ram and the other is a p2 350 with 128 MB ram . i did the same multy media installation option in both the systems . when checking the system resource monitor it shows the p2 is utilising 113mb ram and and athlon 220 mb ram why its so ? and the X is taking 77mb on p2 and 40 mb on the athlon am giving the config below
athlon xp 2000
asus a7n vm (nvidia nforce 1 graphics - using default nv driver 32mb shaired)
256mb ram
samsung 80 gb 5400 rpm hdd
p2 350
128 mb ram
i810 mobo
4mb shaired

Hi Kannan... The answer is quite obvoius. You have answered it in your mail itself... 'shared memory'. The graphics adapter in the Athlon m/c has reserved some amt of memory for itself and the rest is available for the system to use. The same is the case with the p2. cheerio vivek

when using kernal 2.6 (pcq2004) with my asus a7n 266 vm mobo it shows an error message saying the device is not supported ??? help....
sound works fine with kernal 2.4
also the display becomes unstable with nvidia prop drivers (the default nv driver dosent have any problem but 3d acceleration is very bad ) any tweeks ??

I have the same board/card, works fine in 2.6
