Recheck your
1.ip address given by your isp(Mahitee Internet Service)
2.subnet Generally its 255.255.255.0 (IF not working try 255.255.0.0 since at my end when
I am using windows I use 255.255.255.0 but for red hat linux I use 255.255.0.0)
3.gateway given by your isp(Mahitee Internet Service)
4.dns given by your isp (/etc/resolve.conf
nameserver=202.54.1.30(vsnl)
nameserver=202.149.208.92(tata indicom/huges)
Fill above values with your isp.
but if still not working let me know.
send me details of your #ifconfig -a
In short words, 2 solutions
1. instead of 255.255.255.0 try 255.255.0.0
2. confirm your dns

Hi luggers,
I am using Mahitee Internet Service to connect to internet(cable
net
provider). I am currently using Red Hat 8.0, and I have done all
the
configurations required for ethernet card(eth0).
Now after typing the login page url in the mozilla or konquerer.
It
shows me the login page and also allows me to login.
But there after if I try to view any page like say google.com it
shows
alert window saying "[1]www.google.com unknown host". Can anybody
help
me with this? Are there any configurations required with Network
proxy
or any other thing? Please help.
