The new MoBo usually don't have a problem. Nonetheless, I again advise you to just flip through the MoBo manual. You'll easily locate the jumper sequence for disabling the onboard.
That is almost a sure sign that there is a conflict with the memory mapping of the devices. And even if you have managed to bring up the load, I 'd advise you not to keep using this work around since it JUST MIGHT give you a crash when least expected (read : needed)
Yeah , thats a good idea and was going to be my next suggestion. If you end up solving the problem ANYHOW, do let us know what was causing the problem.

I updated the BIOS with the latest one available and it works fine now. thanks for all your help. And Sherlock, I take the 5th on your assumption about which OS I am trying to boot. :0)
Now just to get a GOOD FAN to cool this Hummer of machines.
