what is the state of gprs /edge performance. a few months ago i tried out airtel gprs and it was pathetic to say the least. The CDMA usb modem from tata is about tolerable
Basically Schuyler Erle one of the freemap faculty would like to obtain a connection when he is India.

airtel gprs sucks in Mumbai - on the other hand, in Kolhapur I was online without a break for over 12 hours.

Avoid Reliance as it is too slow since many months. Currently all wireless networks in Mumbai seem to be overloaded. Another development has taken place. The undersea cable in the Mediterranean Sea has broken and will take about 15 days to be repaired, so net access for the next fortnight will be strained for sites hosted outside India.
